This video is a snapshot of rapper Logic performing his new single 1-800-237-2885 at the most recent MTV Video Music Awards. This song is amazing to me lyrically, but also because the title itself is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Because of this, on the release date, the search for the number went up 100%. Since then, the new baseline search for the significance of the number is 25% higher. The song itself is about a person's struggle with life and them slowly finding the power to decide to help themselves and pick up their broken pieces and pull things together. This performance moved me not only because of the song, but how Logic went about his delivery. He has the Suicide Prevention Lifeline number displayed all along the stage he was singing on, only shedding more light on their service. During the last minute of his song, he had hundreds of people who had attempted to commit suicide come out on stage with the number printed on the back of their shirts with the slogan "You are not alone" on the front. At the end, Logic took a quick 30 seconds to share his view on how he believes that everybody is equal and we should all spread love no matter what. Personally, I absolutely adored his performance because I think that he has used his platform in such an incredible way, by bringing help to those who need it. To have call ratings go up that much absolutely blows my mind. I decided to post the video from his VMA performance rather than the music video because it felt more real with the actual survivors and his dialog at the end. Overall, this Is more emotional video, but it has a very serious message that I think we can all benefit from if we share it with somebody who needs it.

Throughout this writing course, I have grown as both a writer and overall person. The picture above is a visual representation on how I started this course with little writing experience and have developed into, not a full, but much larger tree. Because of this class, I have learned how to look at a certain issue and are able to ask questions. I was able to learn this through our microtheme. It forced me to look at a problem, with a biased I was already aware of and then re-evaluate to fit the general knowledge without a bias. Because of the process of writing my Exploratory Essay, I developed skills on analyzing articles, and being able to pick out key details I would need to defend my stance; but at the same time, use evidence to counter myself and educate myself on the full spectrum. Another skill I developed was being able to see issues for the real life stations. My topic helped me do that, but also the writing style we used of research combated with Narrative Glue really hel...
