  1. Throughout this writing course, I have grown as both a writer and overall person. The picture above is a visual representation on how I started this course with little writing experience and have developed into, not a full, but much larger tree.
Because of this class, I have learned how to look at a certain issue and are able to ask questions. I was able to learn this through our microtheme. It forced me to look at a problem, with a biased I was already aware of and then re-evaluate to fit the general knowledge without a bias. Because of the process of writing my Exploratory Essay, I developed skills on analyzing articles, and being able to pick out key details I would need to defend my stance; but at the same time, use evidence to counter myself and educate myself on the full spectrum. Another skill I developed was being able to see issues for the real life stations. My topic helped me do that, but also the writing style we used of research combated with Narrative Glue really helped me understand the difference between fact and what my own personal opinions were. The Documentary Summary assignment forced me to not look analytically at everything, but to just state what was black and white, which was a skill I was not stressing enough. I was able to avoid the logical fallacy of hasty generalization because I was able to view everything that was happening to the people involved. In addition to all these things, I was able to tweak my time management skills as well. I was given ample time to complete each assignment, which at first was really nice and I was able to wait until the night before to do the whole things, but as assignments and intensity progressed, I learned that time was the most valuable thing. I've developed also as a person through this class, and I mean that honestly. I think that my writing and ability to communicate has improved and I am grateful for that.

Attached is a link to my revised ScaredyCat summary. I had minimal grammatical errors to revise, dealing with the issue of past vs present tense, but other than that I was content with the work I put in. The reason I chose to revise this particular assignment was because I lacked a works cited page as well as a final citation, therefore got a check minus on it. I revised my summary with all notes provided by Dr. Kyburz as well as some grammatical tweaks I made myself after reading through it again, and finally I added my final in-text citation and a works cited page.

  1. I am so relieved to read your reflection. I know you had some struggles mid-semester, and I'm delighted that we could continue working past/through them. I also see now and saw then the truth of your claim regarding your development. I'm honored to have played a small role in the process :)
